Bath
Submerging beneath the water,
Eyes closed.
Submerging in the home’s safety, Rising.
Rising above the water, Eyes closed.
Unable to see the night’s river, Falling.
Submerging beneath the warm water,
As it cools.
Rising from the river’s swampy depths, Ignorant.
Rising above the cool water, Sinking.
Submerging, the porcelain evaporates, Rising.
Rising above the black, river’s waters, Eyes wide.
Frozen panic condenses, shivering with fear, And cold.
Submerging, beneath the cool water’s nightmare, Terror.
Rising, lost in the clammy, dank mire, Shaking.
Submerging in hope, rising with fear, Stuck.
Unable to return, trapped in tragedy’s treacle, Screaming.
Sinking; hopeless, terrified, petrified.
Disappearance.
Alarming.
Inexplicable.
Floating; in death’s trance on the water, Delivered.
Petrified form laying on the shore, So far from home.
