Kane is an extreme horror novel fuelled by a brutal dark romance. Arriving at the remote wilderness of Maple Lake in search of a fresh start, Lyra instead becomes the obsession of Kane, a mute, masked killer who dominates the forest through fear. Her struggle to survive soon develops into a twisted psychological conflict of dominance, obsession and surrender, where erotic BDSM power dynamics collide with grotesque violence and unrelenting terror. Kane is possessive, merciless and unstoppable. Lyra refuses to yield. What follows is an uncompromising descent into obsession, survival and extreme horror.
Originally written in 2020, Kane was an experimental novel developed alongside Ultimate Horrotica. Together, they laid the creative foundations that would later inspire Dyerbolical: Immortalis. Ultimate Horrotica was subsequently re-released with The Thorn and His Rose, a collaborative work by Kerry Dyer and Brett Dyer that introduced characters including Demize, Banshee Baer and BaerNedi, all of whom would later become part of the wider Immortalisverse. Although Kane is not part of the Immortalis canon, it provides a fascinating insight into the early development of many of the themes, character dynamics and concepts that were later expanded and reimagined throughout the Immortalis universe.
