One novel. More than 550,000 words. An immortal tyrant with 216 bodies, a defiant monster slayer and an asylum full of supernatural lunatics. Immortalis: The Jester and the Immoless is preparing to launch FREE TO READ at www.immortalisverse.com. Some horror novels offer a brief encounter with the monstrous. Immortalis: The Jester and the Immoless offers more than half a million words of it. Completed on 1 October 2026, the first instalment of the Immortalis series runs to approximately 550,000 words, placing it far beyond the length of a conventional horror novel. Its extraordinary scale accommodates an extensive supernatural civilisation, hundreds of manifestations of a single monstrous protagonist, competing romantic obsessions, grotesque comedy and an increasingly disturbing exploration of power, captivity and immortality. Now the epic Gothic horror novel is preparing for a free online release, bringing its enormous fictional universe directly to readers.
One Monster, 216 Personalities
At the centre of Immortalis stands Nicolas DeSilva, the immortal ruler of Togaduine and master of Corax Asylum. Nicolas exists through 216 independently functioning physical manifestations known as the Nicolai. Although they share one immortal identity, these manifestations possess distinct personalities, professions, interests and rivalries. The resulting cast includes Dr Nicodemus, a jealous surgeon; Chester, the irreverent primal musician; Commodore Bigglesworth, a naval officer; Mr Ledgerly, a media mogul; and Pauley the Cheese, a criminal entrepreneur with decidedly peculiar priorities. Their overlapping activities create a sprawling supernatural household where the same individual can become his own rival, employee, adviser and greatest administrative inconvenience. The novel’s enormous length allows these characters to develop individual relationships and conflicts while remaining part of a single monstrous consciousness.
A Gothic World Beyond the Asylum
Corax Asylum provides the novel’s principal setting, but the story extends into a wider supernatural world. The Deep contains immortal territories, ancient hierarchies, supernatural laws and competing powers whose histories shape the lives of the central characters. Locations including D’Aten, Thanata and Irkalla establish a mythology extending beyond Nicolas’s immediate domain. The novel combines Gothic architecture, supernatural medicine, political intrigue, maritime adventures, monstrous transformations and institutional horror. Its sprawling narrative moves between intimate psychological confrontations and the elaborate machinery of immortal civilisation. The scale is deliberate. This is a horror universe constructed to sustain an entire series rather than a single self-contained nightmare.
Extreme Horror Meets Grotesque Romance
The central relationship follows Allyra Cavidini, a trained monster slayer whose pursuit of independence brings her into conflict with Nicolas. His growing romantic obsession transforms their relationship into a contest over power, possession and personal sovereignty. The story combines extreme dark romance with psychological cruelty, supernatural contracts and the grotesque contradictions of a monster who considers his own possessiveness an expression of devotion. Alongside the horror sits an extensive strain of British black comedy. The Nicolai’s eccentric personalities, criminal enterprises, theatrical arguments and institutional absurdities provide a viciously comic counterpoint to the novel’s increasingly disturbing events. The result is a collision of Gothic romance, extreme horror, dark fantasy and thoroughly indecent humour.
An Epic Built for Online Reading
The forthcoming free release on ImmortalisVerse will bring the novel to readers through online serialisation. Its scene-by-scene structure allows the enormous story to unfold in instalments, introducing the characters, territories and interconnected conflicts across an extended reading experience. The publication approach also gives readers direct access to a substantial independent horror work without purchasing a book. With more than half a million words in its first instalment, Immortalis represents an unusually ambitious entry into independent Gothic horror fiction. And The Jester and the Immoless is only the beginning of the wider series.
