By the 1950s, several residents of the Fraser Valley collected casts after heavy rains exposed clear sequences along creek beds. These early specimens showed a consistent five toe pattern and a pressure ridge beneath the ball of the foot, features later measured against modern primate anatomy.

Further east, ranchers in the Cariboo region noted similar impressions near water sources during the 1960s. The tracks often followed game trails rather than established paths, suggesting an animal avoiding human routes. Measurements taken on site indicated a stride exceeding one and a half metres on level ground.

Provincial wildlife officers occasionally examined these sites but classified them as unknown. No predator or scavenger activity was observed around the prints, which remained undisturbed for days in some cases.

His teams documented fresh track lines and collected hair samples later subjected to microscopic examination. Results proved inconclusive yet ruled out common domestic and wild species.

More recent expeditions organised by the British Columbia Scientific Cryptozoology Club have employed motion triggered cameras alongside track searches. Several units captured nocturnal images of large dark forms, though none coincided directly with new footprint sequences.

Challenges of Preservation

Heavy rainfall and freeze thaw cycles rapidly degrade exposed prints. Investigators therefore prioritise casts made within hours of discovery. Even then, fine detail can be lost if soil collapses during removal.

Competing Interpretations

Some biologists propose that the tracks represent an unknown population of black bears walking upright after injury. Others suggest mismeasured human prints distorted by erosion. Neither explanation accounts for the full set of anatomical markers preserved in multiple casts.

Cryptozoological researchers maintain that the prints indicate a large primate species, possibly related to Asian orangutans or an undescribed hominoid. Genetic material recovered from nearby hair and scat has so far failed to confirm either view.

Broader Context Within Canadian Reports

Track finds frequently accompany reports of vocalisations and tree structures interpreted as markers. These additional signs appear across the same geographic corridor stretching from the coastal inlets to the Rocky Mountain foothills. The overlap strengthens the case for a single phenomenon rather than isolated hoaxes.

Indigenous oral histories from several First Nations describe tall, hairy beings whose footprints match the physical evidence. These accounts predate European settlement and remain consistent across language groups separated by hundreds of kilometres.

Conclusion

The accumulation of measured casts and repeated witness descriptions keeps the question of their maker open. Continued systematic documentation may eventually yield clearer biological evidence or demonstrate that conventional species can produce the observed features under specific conditions. Until then, the tracks stand as one of the more tangible elements within Canadian wilderness reports.
